You can apply H1 extn earlier than 6 months. Mine was expiring in Sep 07. I applied on Jan 5th 07. Got 7-8-9 year extn in March.

i am not sure why you think kavya wont excel in her life - she already has a great headstart with close to 40grand in winnings! i also dont know why you think she will end up working for a non-ivy league educated manager - & even then why its a bad thing to win a spelling bee..too many gaps or leaps in thoughts/logic?!
If you come across and experience families who make their kids to go through the labor (hell) then and then only you would understand what he is trying to say. The other way of experiencing is to watch the pattern and construct of these spelling bees carefully and apply your own thinking process. Once you do this you would almost agree what logiclife was trying to throw to us.Spelling Bee competition, though make a child well aware about the roots of the words (latin, Greek roots) and provide enough exposure to the kid to understand the English language in its essence, it does not teach a kid how to think, how to become creative and innovative.
Of course nobody can generalize that particular winninng kid will/may/won't/may not do good in life but more or less these are not the competitions through which parents with reasoning or thinking ability would let their children go. Yes there are some advantages but if you try to enlist then list of disadvantages would become lengthier..

Hi, I applied for AOS with my wife for EB3 on July 25, received all my receipts today with 08/23/07 receipt date. The checks have not been cashed yet. I'm wondering if someone else is under the same circumstances. It seemed a little odd as the most I see people talking about is having the checks cashed but no receipts. Any help will be appreciated.

does this mean that i cannot get a 3 yr extension based on approved I-140 pp? My labor is not pending for 365 days and so I am solely depending on I-140 approval for a 3 yr extension. I am filing i-140 and i-485 concurrently before July 5...will this give me an EAD option even if 140 takes longer to get approved?

I agree that EAD renewals will take longer than usual because of our sheer volume. And there is no interim EAD. Do you guys think its safer to be on H1B (mine is valid till 2010) rather than EAD/AP?

We should this opportunity to get the USINPAC to join our fight for timely immigration benefits. Now that IV is an established voice for the immigrant community, hopefull USINPAC will be ready accept IV and join the us.

Need your valuable advice on this serious issue. Involved in shoplifting case, got arrested and plead guilty. Served the community service, and paid fine. Got the �Court Disposition Document� which states that I am all clear. My status is I-485 pending and have EAD, AP documents.
1. Is it safe to travel to India and come back on AP?
2. What are the possible chances that visa officer may not let me into the USA?
3. Do I need to carry any letters from my criminal attorney explaining the situation?
4. Any one in similar situation, please update me on this?
5. Please list of documents I need to carry during my travel

You just had diploma and filed in EB2 to get GC fast. I think you took unnecessary risk of filing in EB2. It was sad that no one advised you at that time. If you would have filed in EB3 then CIS would not have asked much questions and approve I140 and I485. Anyhow you still have chance to fight and win but by the time you get GC you may lose lot of sleep. Probably it is worth to wait more EB3 than getting so much stress in EB2.
